Reflections for International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women across industries. While progress has been made, there’s still a long way to go, especially in traditionally male-dominated fields like real estate.

On March 7th, Coral Harvey, Consultant at SAY, attended the Doyenne in Property International Women’s Day event. It was an inspiring gathering that celebrated the strength, resilience, and achievements of women in the industry.

“For me, International Women’s Day is a celebration of the collective strength and determination that women bring to the property sector. Our expertise, showing kindness, and promoting equality help ensure that more women succeed in what has traditionally been a male-dominated industry,” says Coral Harvey, Consultant.

The Doyenne in Property event was a beautiful reminder of the passion, expertise, and resilience women bring to the industry. As conversations continue and networks grow, the future of real estate will undoubtedly be shaped by women who are breaking barriers and driving positive change.

There’s no denying that things are changing. “So much progress has been made for equality and diversity, which is hugely encouraging. I see a real shift in the landscape, both professionally and personally; more women in C-suite and senior leadership roles, more structured support and mentorship networks, and greater recognition of achievements,” shares Claire Savill, Consultant. But despite these advancements, gender parity is still far off.

According to the World Economic Forum, full equality may not be reached until 2158, about five generations from now.“International Women’s Day is hugely important as it’s a drive for change, positive change, and translates to all genders, abilities and walks of life – not just women” continues Claire. “Personally, I have the privilege of knowing some absolute power houses of inspiring individuals who have overcome their individual battles to achieve their dreams and recognition. Their advice and support is invaluable.”

Women continue to shape industries and build strong networks. “Strong women help build strong communities. This International Women’s Day, let’s appreciate resilience, hard work, and the role women play in shaping the future of real estate and other industries,” says Sheliza Jafferali, Consultant. Lara Kosinski, Senior Marketing Executive, echoes this, emphasising the importance of supporting each other: “International Women's Day is a great chance for women to come together, celebrate each other, and recognise the roles we play, both at work and in our everyday lives. We’ve come a long way, but it’s important to recognise what more we can do to support and uplift each other in the industry and beyond.”

International Women’s Day isn’t just about looking back, but also about pushing forward. As more women step into leadership roles, mentor others, and advocate for change, industries like real estate will continue to evolve. There’s still work to be done, but with collective effort, women will keep breaking barriers and shaping the future.

We hope this International Women’s Day gave women a moment to reflect, relax, and celebrate their achievements, both big and small, while continuing to inspire and uplift one another.

At SAY Property, we’re proud to support women who are breaking barriers and driving meaningful change in the industry.
