We’re delighted to introduce our newest team member, Richard Lewis who joins the growing SAY team as a consultant. We sat down with Richard to find out more about him, his career so far and who his dream mentor would be.

The UK is currently experiencing the highest rate of inflation for more than four decades, we were warned this month. The rise to over 9% on the year has been steadily felt by UK consumers and homeowners and according to the Bank of England, is unlikely to peak until at least the end of the year.
But as the country adjusts its spending, what will the impact be on the Integrated Retirement Community sector, who largely recover fixed charges towards operating their buildings, and how prepared are operators to account for this risk?
Last week, I attended The British Property Federation‘s first in-person annual conference in three years and joined 200 delegates at the Cavendish Conference Centre, to learn how we can accelerate the transition to a net-zero carbon real estate sector.
Five years on, we will never forget the shocking events that occurred on the 14th June 2017.
As an industry and as individuals, we owe it to those who don’t have a voice to speak up and ensure that more is done to prevent another tragedy from occurring. It is an unacceptable truth that across the country, thousands of people still live in buildings with unsafe cladding.

The recent Supreme Court decision has excited us here at SAY, after joining our associates across the industry in breathing a huge sigh of relief. The FirstPort Property Services Ltd v Settlers Court RTM Co Ltd [2022] UKSC 1, [Settlers Court], should not be underestimated, and goes a long way to bringing back assurance to Landlords and Developers that control over estates will be retained in the event of one or more buildings exercising their right to manage.
On 10th January, Michael Gove addressed the Commons to discuss the ongoing issues surrounding cladding remediation.
